On behalf of the board of directors and the community of Muslims worshipping at The Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, we extend our condolences to the families who lost their loved ones this weekend in the shootings in the District of Columbia, Washington DC. During a 24 hour period this past weekend there were six shootings in the District of Columbia.

“These are our children who killing other children. It’s time for us to get out of our comfort zone. We must meet these young men where they are and open a dialogue”, said Imam Johari Abdul-Malik, Director of outreach for the Dar Al-Hijrah islamic center and member of Mayor Bowser’s Interfaith Council.

We are calling upon the Muslim communities, people of faith and people of moral conviction to join us as we answer the call from Ward 8 City Councilwoman, LaRuby May, to walk the streets of Washington tonight in a peace march.
