Guarding Against The Slippery Slope: Al-Awlaki Then & Now

It is my sincere hope that shops and on-line vendors would no longer carry the recordings of Anwar Al-Awlaki.  Although the material is sound, I am concerned that people with use these lectures as a gateway to the “new” Al-Awlaki without realizing that he is not teaching the love and compassion that he once did when he was working among us in America.  The material in these lectures, The Hereafter, The life of the Prophet (pbuh) and the companions are not original ideas, they are taken from well-known sources.  Removing them from the market will not sensor this content, only that people will have to look to other sources.

I also believe that “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” serve no useful purpose in an Islamic bookstore.  The Islamic book store unlike a library should carry book that present the positions of facts and not racism or anti-semitism.

Therefore, I am urging all Muslim bookstores and on-line vendors of Islamic lectures to discontinue carrying the recorded lecture of Anwar Al-Awlaki.

In response:

AS-SALAMU ALAIKUM (Imam Johari),

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR THOUGHTFUL INPUT ON THIS MATTER.  WE HAVE ALREADY REMOVED THESE TITLES FROM OUR SHELVES AS WELL AS OUR ONLINE STORE.

THANKS AGAIN

ABDUL-MATEE,
